First off, big thanks to our friends at AMOA, who hosted our Design Nite happy hour this past Thursday!!...also on a party note, kudos to the organizers of the Arthouse TX Prize party at Stubbs, which was the most fun I've had at an art party in ages (other than our own, natch). As for the art, Jonathan Marshall's installation at Art Palace is great; the group show at CRL is pretty dismal with the notable exception of Jeanne Stern's claymation video Sprout (Stern, a recent film MFA from UT Austin, has an impressive CV including work for National Lampoon and MTV); finally, the East Austin Studio Tour (E.A.S.T.), which happens this Nov. 17-18, has come out with a real nice book for this year's tour -- as more artists move to the east side of Austin, there's more good art there to see. This year's tour is definitely worth a visit.
