Has an artwork ever effected the way you think or - 2007/11/12 11:18 As part of my PhD research I am currently investigating how artworks endure in the minds of viewers after their reception in a gallery (or in public space). I ask: Is art effective in a sustained way? Perhaps you like to share your views on this: Did an artwork ever make you DO (e.g. invent, buy, book, build, treat, protest against...) or rethink anything?
Looking forward to your comments!

Dia:Beacon is a Dia Foundation outpost about an hour's (beautiful) train ride up the Hudson from NYC. It's a giant old Nabisco factory that's been converted to a showcase for a handful of Dia-friendly artists.

It's actually pretty fantastic -- gardens by Robert Irwin (who did the Getty), and, as noted above, they've got the Serra Torqued Ellipses, which are amazing in person.
